At United Airlines, top management gives its departments the opportunity to operate with autonomy, even though the company is recognized as a single business. When United launched its corporate Intranet site, project managers wanted to establish a form of continuity by instituting design and technical standards. These standards would then guide the individual departments as they developed their own content.

As a starting point, United asked InSight to design the governing banner graphic and navigation icons for the site's home page. InSight then followed UAL's technical specifications as our staff worked with several of UAL's departments to create links to their own unique sites. InSight's services ranged from graphic design to specialty programming to complete site development.
